Product Terms and Conditions
- Prices & purchase procedures:
All prices are in Euro. Prices and hat styles are subject to change.
All our products are handmade with natural fibers. Slight differences in shape and color or production irregularities emphasize the originality of our products. All Panama hats are 100% handmade in Ecuador with flexible and soft Toquilla fiber (Carludovica palmata). Each Panama hat comes with an “Original Panama” label on the inside and a card with its history and care instructions on the outside. The different qualities (standard, fine, extra fine, Montecristi) are determined by fiber fineness and texture density.
All colors are Azo-free. Colors may deviate, because the hats are handmade in different batches. All colors, especially darker ones, may be slightly damaged and lose solidity if exposed to sunlight for too long.
Panama Hat: 100% Toquilla Straw. Inner band: cotton. Outer band: 40% cotton, 60% polyester. Chinstrap (traveler style): 70% cotton, 30% nylon.
S: 54-55 cm / M: 56-57 cm / L: 58-59 cm / XL: 60-61 cm
- Fair Trade and Solidarity:
We work shoulder to shoulder with local craftsmen who weave Panama hats (in Ecuador) and guarantee them the purchase of all their production at a fixed price.
Panama Hatters laid the foundations for a new project in Simon Bolivar’s region: by visiting villages and offering local craftsmen good deals for the purchase of braided straw hats, we were able to reactivate the old ways for the new generations to learn. With the Hippie Panama hat model, we have been working since the year 2000 on a special project to facilitate the manufacture of Panama hats on the peninsula of Santa Elena, south western Ecuador. We now have about 350 men and women in 15 villages who produce hats for us.
Through our customers purchasing our hats worldwide, we help to create jobs in the rural area on the west coast of Ecuador.
- Instructions for the care of your hat:
(along with your order, we provide detailed tips for the care and maintenance of your hat).
Woven Panama Hats
Due to the low level of moisture found in northern tropical countries, the fabric used for a Panama Hat can break with frequent use and/or by continuously rolling it up and/or pressing its front edge with your thumb and forefinger. The higher quality hats are fundamentally stronger and last longer.
If the fiber is not too dry, classic and colonial hats (only in white) and topless hats are the best for rolling. Colored hats are not recommended for rolling and folding.
Crochet Panama Hats
Crochet Panama hats are much more resilient and can be rolled or folded without any problems.
We try to select only quality items in good shape. Should you find flaws with your hat (for example, breaks /cracks in the material), please inform us within one week from receipt of order.
